Bush Jr

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it: I do not like George Bush Jr. This right here is just about the most I'm gonna ever like the guy, and that's just because my baby Silas is underneath. How Bush ever got elected - twice - is beyond me. The US is sinking quick and it's because he's guiding us into dangerous water. I'd rather get out and paddle myself, but I'm a little fish in a big pond. I'm afraid his sharks would just gobble me up.

It's nice out. In the high 60's and here it is January. I wanted to go for a hike today... so we (me, Jake & Silas) went out behind the house. Not too far, but it was enough to get a breath of fresh air and to initiate a hiking trip discussion for this summer. There's a 27-mile hiking path that starts out by Lake Hope, winds about the hills between Lake Hope and Waterloo Wilflife Station (which is directly in front of my house) and half way is a camp site. We've been talking about hiking that damn 27 miles for nearly 10 years now. I'd really like to cross that off my list once and for all. Jake is game, I know Silas would go, all my girls would venture out, Heather and her kids would love it, and I'm sure Alex and Scott could find a free weekend. We could get more than a dozen folks together and sleep way out in the middle of no where (well... it would seem that way). It would be great practice for what I REALLY want to do... trek into the mountains and camp for a good solid week. I think I could do it. The hard part would be dealing with my cell phone and laptop withdrawl.

Kye

Kye came over tonight and needed a snapshot for the high school yearbook. I took this one and we all loved it. He's the creative type who plays in a band and acts and sings. We all thought this pic looked like something from Saturday Night Live, and that really fits him.

TJ & TJ

This is TJ and yes, folks, this is my itty bitty office. Yes... I will say this again: this closet is my office. I swear. (And TJ is Heather's youngest son... a cutie pie, isn't he?) Some day I hope to have an actual office. One with windows, walls, space, shelves, room to move around in, room for more than 1 person and something that doesn't sit between the kids bedrooms. (The boys often try to out-sound each other with TV's and radios.) I honestly believe that this cramped space cramps my brain and sometimes I can't write because of it... BUT this space is better than no space and at least there's a door and a lock and the nights are super quiet. So I'm trying not to complain too much.

New Years Resolutions!!

I am big on New Year's Resolutions. I love to make lists, set goals, and check things off. So this year is no different than any other... I'd like to do lots of things and go lots of places and get lots and lots done. One thing I'd like to do is to get back into yoga. I've gotten out of my yoga schedule over the past year due to health issues/surgery... but now I hope to back into the swing of things. Silas and I did a few poses today. He LOVES it!
