Signs say we're almost out of here!!

It's a bummer but it has to be this way.

Look folks - Nelsonville is just not the right place for someone like me. It's far too dull and lifeless - and there's only a handful (and I mean a small amount!) of people who sit on all the boards and hold all the public offices and do everything for their own businesses and wallets. They have a saying there "We do things the NELSONVILLE way..." and it's not quite the way I want to run my career.

Am I a little peeved... why yes, yes I am. But I'm not the only one closing shop. This little square has lost several good businesses and several good people - a tattoo studio, a bookstore, an antique shop, a scuba shop, and so forth. So it's not just me. I'm just the next to go.

I think I'm going to go back into creating projects like the Marilyn and Me piece and try to see where that takes me. Maybe some on-location client work too... though I really like the art projects a LOT.

I'm going to miss all the people I met here and my assistant Cassi. Sigh.... we had some great times here. But now it's time to create even greater times somewhere else.

What?! A fire... !!

Apparently, while we were at the studio packing up... our dump truck caught on fire at our house and burned completely up. We were so busy moving and only sleeping at the house - we didn't notice it (it was in the back yard) and someone had to ask us about the first - because it made the newspaper!

Oh yes... I kid you not.

And while a certain neighbor who compulsively burns leaves and then uses his dump truck to scoop ashes into the creek near his house - so the fire area goes undetected (especially during non-burning times) - well, he denied having a fire that day (but I was told by another neighbor that he did) and therefore didn't take the blame for a fire that started near his property and climbed uphill to our dumptruck - and also burned about an acre of underbrush. (Thus revealing another wonderful treat that the owners have left on the property - this one because a dump full of broken bottles, cans, pots and pans, and just junk. It had been hidden in the bushes all these years and only noticeable when all that growth was burned.)

Yuck!

Anyway... we lost the truck and about $3000 in tools, small eqt, party supplies, and pool stuff - PLUS the value of the truck - which is now worthless and has to be hauled off the property.

Here's the truck.
