Get ready for it!

Guess what? April offers all kinds of opportunities to have fun - and learn - with the kids!

Did you know April is:

1. National Poetry Month

2. National Library Month

3. National Mathematics Education Month?

Whew! I can think of several fun activities for each! If you have one - or a few - please send them in! (terrijeaphotography @ yahoo . com )

Also...

The first week of April also celebrates:

1. Library Week and

2. Read a Road Map week!

Can your students read a map?
Read some poetry and ask them to pick a favorite.
Write a poem made from the first letters of their name.
Go to the library and research famous poets.

Look for a favorite poetry book.  Mine was Reflections on a Watermelon Pickle. I still have it!

There are LOTS of things to do this month! Plan a few today so you'll be all set coming tomorrow morning.

Cheers,

TJ

just in case you were wanting to spend some $$ on a new tat!

Spring should neither be winter nor summer...

I cannot believe that spring arrived yesterday and it barely got above freezing. Today it was snowing! Now mind you, this time last year it was in the 80's and I was sweating like crazy and already sunburnt my nose! Now I'm frickin' freezing and my yard still needs that nice Spring Cleaning and readying that comes after a yucky and sloppy winter. The dogs chewed up some plastic something-or-others, sleds and shovels are still strewn about, and my yard is a soppy, wet mess. It desperately needs beautification and... well with all this cold and wet and slipperiness outside (yes, I have been falling and slipping in the yard way too much lately) ... well I haven't mustered up the energy to actually get it done.

Ahem...

Truth be told, I still have snowmen in the window for my wintery window decorations and the little spring bunnies are sitting on their heads. Don't judge me.

National Snowman Burning Day

www.holidaysandmemoriesmadeeasy.com
The spring comes at March 20, so the time for the Snowman to go away has come. However, he has no legs and must be burned. This is not a holiday of weird and aggressive people who like burning things, it’s just the way they send the winter in the past and welcome the sunny spring days. The idea is to melt the Snowman. The Swiss first started to celebrate this holiday, but it’s also accepted in US.

My own DIY!

So with 2 boxes, a lot of duct tape, paint, stickers, paper mache, and curtains - I made the kids a puppet stage. And I'll be honest. I'm actually proud of it.

Busy... busy... Burnt Out... and Busy

Within the last few days I've cleaned out my emotional closet (don't ask... ), signed on to act as head photographer for a local festival, write a story for the local newspaper, and did all my other, regular stuff like homeschooling and nanaing and being my own amazing self. (ahem)...  But I haven't had a reset in a while. Been too busy.

By reset I mean a pause... a lazy day... a day to work on JUST MY projects and no one else's... or a few hours to myself to collect and organize my thoughts, digest the weeks events, and, of course, make a big 'ole to do list for the next few days.

But sometimes I get too busy with everything and I have no time to decompress. When this happens you may not want to be around me. Why? Because I am a stress-cryer. Oh yes... when I'm feeling internally claustrophobic, I whine around like a new puppy. It's sickening really - but I can't seem to help myself.

So if you're thinking about approaching me any time soon, bring a box of tissues, a piece of dark chocolate, and a shoulder for me to whine on.

Yep.

For my mama... Connie Jean

I was able to write the ABC's with the light from a full moon - and it took me several full moon cycles to get it. I held up my camera and moved the lens slowly, keeping the shutter open, to use the light trails to make each letter. It was time consuming but I think it turned out really, really well. Then I wrote the poem and viola! LUNA WRITING was born!!

Just in case you're not on my facebook....

But why AREN'T you my facebook friend? Huh?

Lincoln and Kenndy... what they have in common

Have a history teacher explain this if they can. Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost a child while living in the White House. Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head. Now it gets really weird. Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln. Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939. Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters. Now hang on to your seat. Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford." Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford." Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials. And here's the "kicker": A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland. A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe. AND................... Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a warehouse... Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theater... I saw this had to share just in case anyone did not know.

Wanted: Eye Candy Girls!!

I am looking for women of all shapes, sizes, personal styles and ages (18+) to assist me in promoting my Eye Candy Pinup Photography and/or the Boudoir Beauties Sessions. In effect, you would become PROMOTIONAL MODELS for my brand.

What does that mean? You act as my model (don't worry... I'll teach you how!) and I use your photographs to promote my work (on my blogs, facebook, on business cards, in ads, illustrating articles, etc). You get an emailed copy of all the photos as payment! This is called Time For Print (TFP) in the modeling biz. You would also get experience with modeling, and if you're interested in pursuing it as a career, each session will add to your portfolio.

You would also be expected to attend as many events as possible in which the Eye Candy Girls are attending. This may mean car shows, musical events, parties,  community events, promotional events, etc. We expect our ladies to be dressed up (we have a large wardrobe of pinup and retro style clothing) and adhere to the ECG Code of Ethics.

This really is a lot of fun and a great opportunity for those interested in having fun, building their self esteem, hanging out with awesome ladies and learning how to promote yourself in public. If interested, facebook me or contact me at terrijeanphotography (at) yahoo.  com   . Put that altogether.. lol.

Also - If you're interested in entering modeling contests, this would be the PERFECT opportunity for you! I would glady take your submission photos!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers,

Terri Jean

Please note: I do NOT do Suicide Girl photos because I believe their contracts are unbalanced to both photographer - and ESPECIALLY - the model. They require MANY nude photos of you to be submitted, and they own those photos whether they publish them or not. Plus, you do NOT need to promote yourself on an alternative porn website. Be better than that ladies! I would never NEVER ask you to ever do such a thing. Eye Candy Girls are sexy - hells yes!!! - but we are NOT showing our goods! We are a classier and sexier version of Suicide Girls.

RIP Corey Smathers

I moved to the very small town of Glouster in 2011, but this was the first time I really got to experience what this town had to offer.

Corey Smathers died unexpectedly in Alaska a few days ago. His mother, Amy, was a childhood friend I had recently reconnected with on Facebook. Amy was always this sweet, happy petite little thing - and a breath of fresh air - so to know that she is suffering and that bubbly light of hers is dim.... well, that causes my heart to ache something terrible.

Tonight Corey Smathers, age 22, from Glouster and a soldier on active duty, was escorted home by the Patriot Guard plus his family and many, many fellow officers from our area. It was a haunting and beautiful evening... and one I will never forget.

Celebrate this crazy holiday!

Get Over It Day

www.getoveritday.com
Everyone has something to get over, so for those who missed to do so there’s an opportunity on 9 March. Ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends, job stress, embarrassing moments, and so on – all are set to be forgotten on this day. If you don’t know if you have something to get over, just ask your friends what they mostly hear from you.

Been busting my ass over at Terri Jean Photography...

trying to get all my portfolio photos up and organized.... with watermarks. I honestly had no idea I shot that many client photos. No... I am no where near being done, and I'm weeding through ALL of my photos stored here on my computer while doing it. Yesterday I was able to delete more than 30 GB of unusable photos. Whew! I bet my computer feels a little lighter and more energetic today. Hopefully we can shed another 30 by tomorrow!

Anyways... head over to http://terrijeanphotography.blogspot.com/ and you can see what I've been up to. Will be back to posting here very, very soon.

Facebook me if you need me!

Hugs,

Terri Jean
