So last night we played a little joke on Alex, and I'm still laughing! His band, Black Spyral Dancer, was one of 3 (previously winning) bands who were playing the final night of the 3rd Annual Battle of the Bands here in Athens. Well, I spent the last few days convincing Alex that due to circumstances beyond everyone's control, none of us could attend his show. I said some people had to work, others were having tough times or couldn't find a sitter. He was quite pissed, I must say. Then, he found out I had a sitter for Silas - but I was taking Jake to the movies rather than watching the show cause I didn't think Jake wanted to go.It was all a lie... and he bought it completely! So, imagine his surprise when ALL OF US showed up for the show an hour before it started. Me, his dad, Jake, Chrissy, Shannan, Amanda, Amanda's mom Lydia, and some of his friends. He was SHOCKED! And it was halarious! I'm still laughing!
Okay... so maybe it was a bit cruel. Nah.... it was totally funny!
Oh, and they placed second in what was called the closest Battle of the Bands yet! I was shocked, though, cause they really did blow the other bands out of the water. They sounded so professional and polished, and nearly all their material is original. And I heard a lot of people saying they should have won... so it wasn't just this proud mama thinking it.
But that's okay. They'll be famous someday anyway. Hopefully, sooner than later. They really are quite amazing.
