No, it's not some weird ritutal. Jake and I were messing with some gourds we had drying, and those that weren't going to make it were put to death - by fire. As they were burning, Jake thought they'd make great photos... so I snapped a few. He was right! They're pretty cool.... and the bottom two kinda look like faces.
